One of the testing grounds and experimental arenas of the automotive industry is the track. Although in the early years, Volkswagen wasn't too interested in competition, feeling that it didn't need to prove its designs against its contemporaries, many shop owners took it upon themselves to propel the name of Volkswagen, their shop and drivers into the fray of automotive racing. Following is a list of names from the past--some from the present--who have thrilled us with their accomplishments, impressed us with their tenacity and ability...and maybe scared us with their driving a few times.
